THANKSGIVING DAY

Thanksgiving Day is a US national holiday. THANKSGIVING is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of NOVEMBER in the United States. Family members and friends are together on this day. It is time to thanks and express gratitude in general. It is also a day of feasting, football and floats.
The first Thanksgiving was celebrated to give thanks to God and the Native Americans for helping the PILGRIMS survive the brutal winter. Half of the pilgrims who arrived on the MAYFLOWER had died, but many more would have died without the help from the NATIVES. They taught the pilgrims how to harvest food.
The traditional Thanksgiving menu is TURKEY, stuffing, sweet potatoes, PUMPKIN PIE and cranberries sauce.
BLACK FRIDAY is the day following Thanksgiving. Since the early 2000s, it has been regarded as the beginning of the Christmas shopping season in the US,  and most major retailers open very early (and more recently during overnight hours) and offer promotional sales.
